Miraculous escape for marriage party in Peddapalli

Peddapalli: A marriage party comprising nine persons had a miraculous escape on Friday when the four-wheeler autorickshaw they were travelling in was on the verge of being washed away in the flood waters of Manair river near Odela mandal headquarters.

Alert local residents managed to rescue the passengers by pulling out the half-submerged autorickshaw from the surging water with the help of a tractor. Since a bridge across the river is under construction, a temporary kuchha road was laid across the river for people from Odela to go to other villages in Jayashankar-Bhupalpalli district.

The kuchha road was damaged due to heavy flow of water following rains in its catchment areas on Thursday night.

The marriage party from Khammam was on its way to Godavarikhani in Peddapalli district when the incident occured. The vehicle driver tried to cross the river without realising that the current was strong.
