Jobless bar dancer caught with drugs worth over Rs 3 lakhs in Mumbai

A 30-year-old woman who used to be a bar dancer was caught for drug peddling in Mumbai. Mephedrone drug worth Rs 3.3 lakh was seized from her.

During the primary investigation, the arrested woman said she once was a bar dancer and did not have a job in the last three months and was compelled to accept the job of delivering such consignments.

She was told to accompany the person and pretend to be with him. She said she did not have work during the lockdown and took up the work.

She has been nabbed by Anti Narcotics Squad in Pune. She and her accomplice were caught carrying banned mephedrone drugs.

It was during police patrolling round near National Insurance Academy on Saturday evening when the duo was spotted walking towards Sadanand Hotel.

When inquired about the reason for walking, the duo could not give satisfactory answers. So the patrolling team asked for their identification.

Forty-three-year-old Vivek Tulsiram Lulla and 30-year-old Hema Kisanlal Singh said they travelled from Navi Mumbai to Pune in an Ola cab and had left the cab just before the NIA academy. Further grilling and woman divulged that they had come to the city to deliver an illegal consignment of mephedrone drug.

Anti Narcotics team has carried out this operation under the direction of Additional CP Ashok Morale and with guidelines from DCP Bacchan Singh.

A case under NDPS section 8, 21 , 22 and 29 has been registered. Anti Narcotics Team comprising Police Inspector Vijay Tikole, Assistant Police Inspector, three police constables were in the team that carried out this operation. The accused were produced before the court on Sunday and remanded to two days of police custody.

Talking to India Today TV, investigating officer Vijay Tikole shared that Hema Kisanlal Singh during the primary interrogation revealed that she has been into the drug-peddling business for the last three to four months.

During the two days police custody the investigation team will try to find out the end-user wherein this consignment was to be delivered.

The Ola Cab driver will also be called in for his interrogation, mobile call reports of the two accused will also be taken into account to find out who all were in contact with them.
