TN: Woman poisons kids, then hangs self to death as landlord refuses to return lease amount

In a shocking incident, a 35-year-old woman poisoned her kids to death and then killed self by hanging in Tamil Nadu's Sivaganga district after her landlord allegedly refused to pay the lease amount and tortured her to vacate the house.

Kaliswari and her kids Abhishek (9) and Mangaiyar Thilakam (14) were found dead in their house.

Before hanging herself, Kaliswari wrote on the wall of the house that the house owners, Karthikeyan, Naga Jyothi and Sundari, were the reason for her suicide. Police said the woman might have taken the extreme step as Karthikeyan had not returned the lease amount of Rs 3.5 lakh to her on time.

Speaking to the media about the incident, Kaliswari's sister said, "My elder sister's husband is in Malaysia and she was being tortured by her house owners to vacate the house. But they hadn't given her the lease amount of Rs 3 lakh which was given to them.

My sister has also written on the wall that she died because of these people."

The Sivaganga town police booked Karthikeyan, his wife Naga Jyothi and daughter Sundari under Section 306 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC.
