Mumbai: BARC scientist hangs self to death after fight with wife over feeding kids

Mumbai: In a tragic incident, a 37-year-old scientist with the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) ended his life by hanging himself at staff quarters after an altercation with his wife on Thursday.

The now-deceased scientist, identified as Anuj Tripathi, was working in BARC's Bio-Chem department and lived in residential quarters at Trombay. On Thursday, an argument flared up between him and his wife over feeding their two children. In a fit of rage, he hanged himself to death from the ceiling fan inside the bathroom of his apartment, police said.

No suicide note has been found.

Police began investigations after filing accidental death report, The Times of India reported.

In another incident, a judge allegedly died by suicide at his residence in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad near Delhi, police said.

According to the police, Additional Sessions Judge Yogesh Kumar (45) was found hanging from the ceiling fan by his wife in his bedroom at their residence in Judges' Colony in Model Town area of Ghaziabad.

After receiving information, Ghaziabad's senior superintendent of police (SSP) along with the district magistrate and district judge reached ASJ Kumar's house. After preliminary inquiries, the body was sent to a hospital for post-mortem examination. Police will register a case after the post-mortem report comes in.
