Woman sets 55-year-old Dad ablaze after he objects to her relationship

Bareilly: A woman in Budaun, Uttar Pradesh, allegedly set her father ablaze after he raised an objecting to her relationship. The 55-year-old man was set afire in Waziraganj area of Budaun, Uttar Pradesh. The man was admitted to a hospital and is said to be in a critical condition.

The woman was allegedly helped by other members of her family. All the other accused are on the run. The case came to light when an unidentified man contacted the police and informed them that a man had set himself on fire.

The 55-year-old victim was identified as Mohammed Aamir. Aamir was a resident of Hatra village in Wazirganj.

He works as a marginal farmer and is a father to two daughters and a son.

Unidentified man alerted cops about the victim

After being alerted, a team of the cops went to the spot and saw the man lying on the floor. The man suffered 50 per cent burn injuries. Following this, the cops rushed the man to the district hospital, The Times of India reported. The statement of the man was recorded after the preliminary treatment was administered to him.

'They all wanted me dead'

In his statement, Aamir said, "My daughter has an affair. When I raised objection to it, my daughter, son and wife along with my nephew poured petrol on me and set me on fire. They all wanted me dead."

Siddharth Verma, additional SP (rural) said that they have not received any complaint in the matter which is why no case has been registered. However, we are on the lookout for the family members." The doctors monitoring the man's condition said that he is stable but needs constant medical attention.
