Aunt arrested for stoning minor niece to death in Bargarh

Padmapur, Jan 10: A woman has been arrested on charges of killing her minor niece, police said on Sunday.

Mutilated body of a nine-year- old minor girl was found lying in the jungle near Jogendrapur village under the jurisdiction of Paikamal police station in Bargarh district on January 4.

Police had launched a probe registering a murder case and arrested her aunt today.

The accused has admitted that she called the victim to the nearby jungle to attend the call of nature with her and stoned her to death as the victim's grandparents were not showing affection for her son while they were taking all care of the minor girl.

Notably, the parents of the minor girl work in a kiln factory. The girl had come to home to cook food and gone to a nearby shop for grocery but did not return.

Her family members conducted a frantic search as she did not return home by evening but in vain.

Later, her body was spotted lying in the nearby jungle the next morning by some locals.

Police had launched a probe into the matter sending the body for post-mortem.
