Gujarat: Vengeful woman tries to set cloth factory afire after boyfriend sacked from job

Rajkot: In a shocking incident, a 24-year-old woman in Gujarat's Gandhidham allegedly tried to set a factory unit n fire, reportedly after it sacked her boyfriend from his job.

How it happened

As per reports, the woman in question has been identified as Mayaben Parmar, a resident of Ganesh Nagar locality in Gandhidham. Around 5: 30 pm on July 5, Parmar tried to torch a factory unit of Canam International (P) Ltd, a company that recycles used clothes. She allegedly set a cloth-laden trolly on fire using a lighter, with the intention to burn down the unit.

The workers at the factory noticed the fire and immediately doused it, averting a big blaze disaster. Thereafter, the CCTV footage was scanned and it was revealed that Parmar was behind the setting had set clothes in fire, according to a report by The Times of India.

"When the management questioned Parmar why she wanted to burn down the factory, she revealed that she was angry after the company fired her boyfriend (Vinod) from his job. The 'anguished lover' decided to set the unit on fire for revenge," the report quoted an official as saying.

Police register case against 'anguished lover'

Following this, the company's GM, Harish Madapallikutti Gopala, filed a police complaint against Parmar. Based on the complaint, the Ghandhidham Police booked Parmar under various Indian Penal Code sections, including 436 (mischief by fire or explosive substance with intent to destroy house, etc ) and 427 (mischief causing damage).

In another incident, a 20-year-old youth and his 18-year-old girlfriend ended their lives by hanging themselves from a tree in Rajasthan's Dungarpur district of Rajasthan on Saturday, police said. The two took the extreme step after their family members opposed their relationship, they added.
