Hyderabad: Unable to meet financial needs, two women resort to stealing, arrested; Rs 24 lakh cash seized

Hyderabad: In a major win, two women interstate robbers have landed in police custody in Telangana. Sleuths of Lingala Ghanpur central crime station laid a trap to nab the women. During the probe, 473 gm of gold and cash worth Rs 24 lakh was recovered from their possession.

As per the information, the accused mainly targeted passengers in crowded buses and would pose as affluent women. Amid the travel, the women would snatch jewellery, cash from the luggage of passengers.

After receiving a tip-off, the accused was caught red-handed at Ghanpur bus station. During a thorough interrogation, the accused, identified as A Sandhya and B Kavitha confessed to committing the robbery and they were residents of Andhra Pradesh.

Commenting on the issue, the women said they resorted to stealing as they were unable to meet families' financial needs through their tailoring jobs.

Further probe revealed that the duo was arrested in 2005 and 2019 by Hyderabad, Nalgonda, and Bhuvanagiri police. The duo, after being released purchased a car and arranged drivers who would further help in identifying crowded buses or auto stands and where they would rob valuables from passengers.

The duo was involved in 11 such similar cases and has now been produced before the court as well in connection with this case.
