Bengaluru: The body of a newborn girl was found hanging from a toilet window of the Chintamani government hospital, Chikkaballapur district in Karnataka. The baby was allegedly murdered before being hanged from the window grill.
Reportedly, the incident took place during the wee hours of Saturday. The incident came to light when a Group D employee noticed the body and raised an alarm.
In the CCTV footage, a woman wearing a churidar could be seen carrying the newborn to the hospital toilet.
Chikkaballapur Deputy Commissioner R Latha told The New Indian Express that the district health officer has been asked to submit a report on the incident at the earliest.
Dr Santhosh, administrative medical officer of the Chinthamani government hospital said that on Friday, six deliveries were conducted at the facility and all the mothers, as well as babies, are safe. He added that the baby might have been delivered at home as the umbilical cord was not cut.
Further probe is underway.
