Two brothers and their sister allegedly blackmailed a man and attempted to extort money from him after recording compromising videos of him via video call. This case has come to light in Lucknow.

The local police have arrested both brothers but the woman is absconding at present.

HOW DID THE CASE COME TO LIGHT?

A Lucknow-based businessman filed a complaint with the police after the accused allegedly demanded Rs 30 crore from him.

He registered the complaint on June 22, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police Devesh Pandey.

The victim provided the police with the phone numbers through which he was being blackmailed.

WHAT WAS THEIR MODUS OPERANDI?

On June 15, the sister and the businessman began chatting online after he was sent a 'Hello' message from an unknown number. She then initiated a video call during which compromising videos were recorded.

After that, the woman's brother Mohit called the businessman from the same number and demanded Rs 5 crore. He allegedly told the victim that if he did not pay, the video would be sent to all his relatives. After negotiation, the businessman finally agreed to pay Rs 5 lakh.

Due to a miscommunication, the woman thought that her brother had not yet struck a deal with the victim. Her cousin Vivek then called the businessman and demanded Rs 30 crore. After that, the businessman decided to file a police complaint and the two brothers were arrested.
